I'm voting today...

And I voting Obama. A lot of people I know are voting McCain. As you read this, please do not post with things such as "why?" There are many issues I agree with on both sides, a big one is McCain does not support abortion. But is making it illegal going to stop people from doing it? No. Abortion makes me sick to my stomach. I believe it is murder and anyone who has an wrongful abortion for selfish reasons is a murderer. But McCain does not support public schools, he is for vouchers, and I as a public school teacher cannot endorse this.

Obama wants to move the troops from Irag to Afgahnastan. I agree with this. We have wasted enough time and money in Iraq to not find the person we are looking for. If you're lose your keys, do you keep looking in the same spot? No, you move on. I believe that is what we need to do with this issue. I also believe that no matter when we pull out completely, things in those countries will go back to the way they were before. They've lived this life for hundreds of years, it's not going to change in a few years. Although Obama has never been in the Military, I agree with his strategy. As far as immigration goes, Obama supports a program for workers. I disagree with this. Let the come here legally and and earn their way to citizenship just like all other immigrants.

We have lived with a republican president for 8 years. Let's see what a democrat can do. Bill Clinton was a great president (despite his moral values). I do not believe the lies on the news about Obama being a communist, captialist, or dictator. The beautiful thing about this country is we have congress to override the president if necessary. Let's just hope that if Obama wins our congress turns republican or if McCain wins our congress stays democrat.

These are just a few examples on why I will be voting for Obama. I know this is not the popular choice in this state. But I have to go with my heart, not the popular vote. I am not republican or democrat. I am a US citizen who will vote according to what I feel is best. I am not an advocate of either and will let everyone make up their own mind by not pushing my feelings on anyone. Either way, no matter which way you vote, I hope you do. Honestly I think the country is pretty screwed up right now and niether one of these two are the best canidates. But Obama I really believe is MY best option.
