Today I had the opportunity to do a ride-along with Scott. It was great. I was nervous at first. What was going to happen? I figured since it was Black Friday it would be crazy busy and lots of action for me to see. No, rather boring actually. Briefing was kind of boring; then we are out on the road. We drive around a bit. We're Red Cliffs in the left turning lane onto Mall Drive and right in front of us a guy runs the red light. Scott whips out, turns on his lights in the intersection, wow, what a thrill to just have people stop for you! Scott wrote the guy and less than a minute later ANOTHER guy runs the same light. Scott pulls a U-y and this guy is belligerent (I can just tell by his and Scott's body language. Scott then proceeds to ask this guy to get the person in the bed of the truck out. The guy refuses that there isn't anyone back there. Even I could see there was. After a couple of minutes of arguing the guy finally gets out and makes his son climb into the cab.
We continued to drive around some more when a call comes that requires immediate attention! We were by Target and we needed to get by 350 N. and 2450 E. Scott turns lights AND sirens on we're off. Holy Cow! People are moving out of our way like crazy. Some people just stop in the middle of the road and block Scott and the other officer. We're flying past Boulevard and River Road, we zoom past Mall Drive, and finally we go through the dreaded "Walmart Instersection" (or so I call it). we maxed at like 60 mph. Traffic was crazy and we even drove in on-coming traffic. Scott would turn on his sirens when he came to an intersection or highly congested area. My heart was pumping and I was holding onto the door for dear life. Scott even told me at one point to breathe. If I could get a traffic picture of what my face looked like, oh would that be great.
We leave that car and we drive around where Scott proceeds to show me all of the "armpits" of his area. 15 minutes before the end of my ride, we are driving down Riverside heading southwest when we approach the Foremaster stoplight. We have it green. A lady coming off of Foremaster stops, and then goes! Scott flips around and pulls her over. She wasn't paying attention and thought that it was still a stop sign instead of a light! Holy Cow.
After that Scott dropped me off and I went over to my neighbor's to pick up the little guy. He was on the couch enjoying some good old mac and cheese. When I walked in he smiled, slid off the couch and ran to give me a big hug all while saying "hi, hi, hi" What a cutie!

I'm glad you had a good time and were able to get someone to watch Trevor. Sorry I couldn't help.
