With the baby only 3 weeks away, I've been graced with a new experience: severe sciatic pain. I had some pain with Trevor, but nothing like this. I will be walking/standing and I will have what I like to call "a collapsing moment." Where the pain is so bad I must grab onto something or welcome the floor to me. I've had the pain while sitting too, but because I was already sitting, I didn't have a "collapsing moment." I complained to my dr. last week and was given a referral to the physical therapist. Monday I went to see Jane. She's great. She observed my back and informed me that my hip was rotated and it was then rotated back into position. This actually felt good. Jane's assistant, Sonia came in and gave me a nice 30 minute soft tissue massage on my butt/lower back (since that is the source of the pain). My butt felt bruised after that, but the muscle felt better. I was given a belly support band which I am finding kind of uncomfortable, but I can't believe how much it has helped. I go in on Thursday to start pool therapy to help build that muscle (supposed to help with labor and delivery too).
Monday after my appointment I didn't know what was going on, but I was having much more collapsing moments. The theory of Sarah leads me to believe it is because the muscle was irritated. Today was the first time in a week and a half that I have not had a moment. It was so great. I'm excited to continue my therapy and see me get better. My only concern is that my epidural didn't get that nerve when I was in labor with Trevor and the dull ache never went away the past two years. I'm hoping to be able to continue the therapy even after Tyler is born with the hopes of making this pain dissipate completely.
I have one problem with my pool therapy though: I don't have a swim suit that fits and I don't want to buy a maternity one and I don't want to buy a regular one since I'm planning on getting a new one anyway for Disneyland...what's a woman to do!

Wow, sorry about all the pain hopefully it will go away soon. Maybe you can try getting a two piece swimming suit and you can buy a cute swimming top or shirt to go over it. Good luck:)
