My Spring Break started out pretty good. I had a little sore throat but nothing that was overwhelming not want to do anything. Saturday afternoon Trevor and I went to his little friend, Addison's, birthday party. We had a lot of fun and Trevor loved to go down the slide at the park and loved the little mouse ears Addison had. While there I noticed Trevor had some eye bogies. Not a big deal, he just woke up from a nap and eye bogies are expected. When Scott got home from work we went out to Game Crazy where the bogies were back! We got really worried and rushed him to InstaCare. We found out that Trevor had a little eye infection. Boy was I glad we caught it early. We didn't go to church on Sunday because of his eye infection. It was contagious and didn't want Trevor spreading it (I'm sure you other mom's appreciate this). My sore throat had taken a toll on my voice and I didn't sound too good, but I felt great! My voice was a little helter skelter, that's all.
Sunday afternoon really looked bright when my mom showed up to help us work on our garden. She has a green thumb if I ever saw one and she was more than willing to help. She even brought her heavy duty tools to trim those rose bushes. We had a nice evening (besides putting eye medicene into an 18 month old toddler). We went to bed with the thoughts of cultivating our garden bright and early on our mind. Boy were we excited.
Monday came, Trevor still had the eye bogies but was looking a lot better. My voice even sounded better. I wasn't congested, my throat didn't hurt, and I was making a delicious breakfast at about 8:30. All of a sudden Scott says in a very calm voice "Sarah, I think I need to go the hospital." Because of how calm this was both my mom and myself thought that this was a joke. Breakfast was only minutes from being done and surely this could wait until breakfast was over. I walk down the hall to see Scott holding his left foot and hopping on his right down the hallway. He had stepped over the baby gate that blocks our laundry room and torn his middle toenail off! Well, it was stil partially attached. My mom takes Trevor, finishes breakfast, and Scott and I take off to the ER. We got right in, but not before Scott made me take a picture of his toe. I'm not going to post it here because it is pretty nasty. But if you want to see it, just ask and I will show you. The doctor had to put the toenail back on by stitches and later took an x-ray to discover he had also broke his toe. For the moment Scott uses a cane because it hurts to walk and he is using a boot. Man, does that toe look nasty. We left the ER about 10:30 (I know quick trip huh?) Scott has an antibiotics to fight any infection that may grow and Lortabs to deal with the pain. We got home about 11:00 where we enjoyed our cold breakfast.
Trevor went down for a nap and my mom and I went to Lowe's to get the stuff for the garden. Scott felt really bad that he couldn't help in the garden anymore, but we understood that these new circumstances prevented him from helping us. My mom and I spent all day in the garden making it look beautiful. It does look beautiful. It was very overgrown with weeds and way too many daffidills. But, the rose bushes are trimmed down to a healthy height that will allow for a lot of growing and beautfiul flowers. Plus I have planted some wonderful flowers to add color to a once drab look.
Trevor ended up sleeping for about 3 1/2 hours. We had to wake him, which he was not happy about. But on top of his eye, he now has a cold. By the end of the day my voice had been over spent, it hurt and I was talking worse than ever.
It's Tuesday now, the second day of my Spring Break and this is the breakdown: 1 husband with a sore foot that is a gimp, 1 self with a crazy voice and sneezing but no other crazy symptoms, 1 baby with a cold and an eye infection. While the infection is gone for the most part, that is one good thing.
I am so happy that my mom came down. I don't know what we would have done with Trevor when we had to go to the ER. If anyone sees Scott walking around on a cane, don't be too hard on him. He's had a rough day or so.
